The Lowdown, established in 1989, is a voluntry charity supporting young people in your area on their journey towards emotional health and wellbeing.
By providing free and confidential services of Counselling, Wellbeing, Sexual Health and LGBTQ Support services we help many young people to be able to reclaim their lives.
We support young people with counselling who are experiencing either a mental health (anxiety, self-harm, eating disorders, depression) or emotional (anger, bereavement, bullying), or behavioural issue (drugs and alcohol) that prevents them from being happy, confident and healthy.
Our Wellbeing service offers Drop in 1:1 wellbeing sessions, signposting & self help, peer support groups and activity based wellbeing workshops.
Our Sexual Health Services provides contraception, chlamydia testing, pregnancy testing each day and we have a nurse service offering emergency contraception each Wednesday afternoon and 2 Saturdays a month.
We support Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning young people with our LGBTQ Youth Groups. The weekly Out There Youth supports 13-17 years and the biweekly Out There Plus helps 18-25 year olds.
We need your help! The demand for our services is ever growing therfore we want to expand services and reduce waiting times for young people to access the support they need.
Your support will help to change – and occasionally save - lives of our young people in the community of Northampton.
Thank you for your support and good luck!
